Laptop keeps freezing up and making weird noises...?

Sounds like your disc drive is malfunctioning. Get a small screwdriver(philips) and remove the drive, then power up the laptop. If you don't hear the noise, pick up a new drive and install it. This is MOST likely to be your problem.
