How can I tell if I broke me toe? URGENT?

I was screwing around with my friend and I ran quite fast and hit left pinkie toe hard on the door. I didn't see colors and it didn't hurt the first few seconds then the pain came. I continued to screw around, intill the pain was unbearable. I was so scared I broke it. Its the first day of spring break...come on!.... I read that swelling and discoloration were prime factors of a broken toe. I compared my two toes and if anything I have a very slight swelling of the left toe. It does hurt to walk put only on the left side of the foot. and not the whole left side, maybe a few inches of the left side. The only color on my toe is red. It does hurt pretty bad. Please help. I really hope I don't have a broken toe. Also it hurts only very slightly if my foot is not touching the ground.
