Irish people why do you not reclaim your heritage?

The majority of you do not speak Irish therefore any knowledge you have of the history of your nation is mostly through the perspective of the English. There are THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of mcripts that make a corpus of your own indigenous history, but you still can only see your past and present through the tongue of your ancestors' enemies. Ireland for most of its history has been a Goidelic speaking country, why trade that for another nation's history?
